Whilst a cancer diagnosis might permeate into every aspect of the life of the patient, for those close to that person, the stress may create new problems or worsen existing ones. Other than the treatment for the cancer itself, counselling is also a means of support that is important to have from the get-go.
This and more was said by Prof. Michael Galea, psychologist and Associate Professor at the Department of Mental Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences, during a seminar titled ‘No One Fights Alone’.
The seminar was held in the last week of October 2023 at the Queen Mary University of Landon, Malta Campus in Victoria, organised by the Gozo General Hospital Breast Care Multidisciplinary Team, was aimed at patients with a history of breast cancer as well as their relatives.
