One of Malta’s most beloved street festivals, and one of the annual events with the widest University of Malta participation, Science in the City, was successfully held last weekend on 29 and 30 September 2023
Having taken place at various locations around Valletta, Science in the City has for the last eleven years, brought together researchers and artists, encouraging them to find scientific solutions to current issues.
This year’s theme, ‘Changemakers’, appealed to multiple groups of people, with family-friendly activities once again catching the interest of attendants on both days. Sensory-friendly features shone throughout the event, with even a Sensory-Friendly Programme prepared.
Numerous international collaborators, such as Explorathon – Researchers’ Night Scotland, Fundacion Descubre, and Festival of Nature, lent their expertise to the festival, ultimately expressing how research makes a difference to people and environments across the world. “It drives the development of cancer treatments, personalised cures for diseases, improves learning experiences and boosts wellbeing”, a recent Facebook post reiterated.
Some of the FICs who contributed to this year’s edition also shared their excitement on social media.
