During the first week of October, a new facility appeared on campus - the SEA-EU Hut, which one can spot when entering the university through the main gate, on the right-hand side and found here - refer to the campus map.
The inauguration of the SEA-EU Hut on our university premises took place on 11 October in the presence of the Rector of the University of Malta, Prof. Alfred J. Vella. "This hut is a leap of faith in the work of the SEA-EU Alliance, which should not be seen as a project, but primarily as a long-term partnership between universities that goes beyond the usual project funding."
Rector鈥檚 Delegate for SEA-EU Prof. Alan Deidun, ex-officio Rector鈥檚 Delegate for SEA-EU Prof. Godfrey Baldacchino, Research Support 福利在线免费 Director, Dr Christian Bonnici and the UM SEA-EU Office. The inauguration was also attended by Ms Margaret Baldacchino Cefai, Msida Mayor, and Mr Alan Vella, Executive Secretary of the Msida Local Council,, with whom SEA-EU has established a fruitful partnership.
鈥淚n previous years there was a misconception that SEA-EU focuses on Marine and Maritime areas. On the contrary, SEA-EU encompasses in its activities all possible areas of the university - from student life to joint research projects and administration. We are now trying to communicate that everyone can get involved in SEA-EU activities. This is why internal communication is essential to the activities of our Alliance, and SEA-EU Hut will provide us with a channel for this鈥 - said Prof. Deidun.
Maria Grima Calleja, the Head of the SEA-EU Office, notices that the SEA-EU Hut marks the current presence of the alliance on the campus and is poised to become the nucleus for various events, meetings, and interactions among academics, administrative staff, and students. The hut is more than a building; it's a testament to the power of education in transcending borders and embracing diverse perspectives.
Everyone is welcome to visit the SEA-EU Hut to see what opportunities the alliance has for you.
