On 18 October 2023, from 09:00 onwards, several entities within the University of Malta community shall be coming together at Quadrangle for a lively information and fundraising event towards the Student Solidarity Fund.
The Student Solidarity Fund (SSF) was initially set up in response to COVID-19 related hardships faced by students, such as isolation, illness or business closures. Later, the Fund was maintained on a permanent basis to provide support to students in need as an interim arrangement until they access other services.
Support, students have previously received from SSF, includes accommodation related expenses, support with utility bills, purchase of appliances, food donations, medical expenses, and the purchase of stationery and books.
The UM Student Solidarity Fund Committee has already assessed close to 80 cases since its inception.

A food stand will be raising funds towards this aim. Stands with flyers, bookmarks, posters and other items will also be set up for the occasion by various UM entities that provide services to students.
This event is organised by the Office of the Pro-Rector for Student & Staff Affairs and Outreach with the support of the Chaplaincy together with the Equity Office, Counselling Unit, Access Disability Unit (ADSU), The Help Hub and KSU.
