The of the University of Malta made a significant presence at the 7th Adaptation Futures Conference, held from Monday 2 to Friday 6 October 2023 in Montreal, Canada. , the Principal Investigator of the Beyond Pandemics Project, attended in person, while , the Project Officer, participated online. This bi-annual event, co-organised by UNEP, stands as a pivotal platform in the field of climate change adaptation, addressing critical themes for advancing global progress.
During the conference, the ISSI hosted a session titled "Optimising Adaptation for Island Peoples: Leveraging Traditional and Local Knowledge," which brought together experts in the field of island studies. The session also showcased the latest findings from the Beyond Pandemics Project, spotlighting its impact and significance. The presentation highlighted challenges and opportunities to enhance climate resilience and healthcare systems in small island states.
