A productive olive picking session held on Friday 3 November 2023, which gathered a number of staff members from across the University of Malta community for a veritable cause, yielded a substantial amount of olives that will be pressed, and the olive oil bottled and sold for charity in time for Christmas on Campus.

Participants, who traded their work clothes for casual clothes, were invited to donate some of their time to help pick olives from around the Msida campus. Through long trakes, and a tarp laid on the ground, they combed the olives from the branches and when enough were gathered, they transferred the contents into boxes.
Feelings of goodwill were fostered, olives were harvested for a cause, and the boxes will be taken to an oil pressing facility where they will be pressed into oil and then bottled and sold throughout the Christmas season. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to charity.
