At the end of September 2023, the Association for International Education (EAIE) held its 33rd Annual Conference and Exhibition in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This event brought together over 239 exhibitors and more than 6,700 participants from around the world. The SEA-EU alliance participated with its own booth at the exhibition, taking this opportunity to showcase the consortium's new branding, attracting countless visitors, and receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The SEA-EU alliance was represented by Laura Howard, former president of the EAIE and current General Director of SEA-EU, and Irene de Andrés Márquez, Communication Manager, both from the University of Cadiz; and Fernanda Giraldo, Project Officer of the University of Malta.
This significant event was the perfect stage to bring together some of the colleagues and friends of the alliance, who were hosted at the stand and warmly welcomed, creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie, exchanging greetings, and engaging in meaningful conversations. Prof. Alexandra Teodosio, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Algarve, was also present and presented a session on “European Universities Initiative Alliances: Making connections beyond Europe” providing insights regarding the transformative impact of the European alliances and the key role they are playing in reshaping higher education, where the fostering of international collaboration is developing in a faster and more challenging way.
Participation in the EAIE was possible thanks to the SEA-EU 2.0 project and ERASMUS+, which through programmes like the European Universities initiative supports the establishment, operation, and expansion of university alliances.
