Prof. Francesco Pegreffi from the School of Medicine and Surgery, Università degli Studi di Enna ‘Kore’, Italy, has recently visited the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Malta. He delivered an invited seminar on applied anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder.
Prof. Pegreffi obtained his medical degree from the University of Bologna in Italy and specialised in orthopaedic surgery at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute. Presently, Prof. Francesco Pegreffi holds the position of Director at the Unit of Recovery and Functional Rehabilitation located at Policlinico Umberto I in Enna.
There is a strong collaboration between Prof. Pegreffi and the Department of Anatomy at the University of Malta, including various scientific publications together with Prof. Jean Calleja-Agius and other members of the Faculty. Prof. Pegreffi is also a visiting examiner at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta.
Prof. Francesco Pegreffi is also part of the scientific organising committee carrying out cadaver labs at the Department of Anatomy, University of Malta in order to train surgeons to further enhance their clinical skills. This is possible thanks to the professionals in charge of the running of the Dissection Halls at the Department of Anatomy and of course, all the noble selfless persons who donate their bodies for medical studies.
