The at the University of Malta and the Department of Sanskrit, Philosophy and Vedic Studies at Goa, India University renewed the MOU between them.
In order to celebrate this both Departments collaborated on organising an Interdepartmental Seminar with the aim of showing the interrelationship between both Western and Eastern traditions of philosophy. The seminar was called ‘Dialogue and Silence in Philosophy,' and was held on Thursday 18 January and Friday 19 January at Goa University.
, Head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Malta delivered a paper called ‘Communication: from a Blessing to a Curse’ while Dr Clive Zammit from the delivered a paper called ‘Nowhere to be heard: on thinking about silence, and other contradictions’.
In addition, Prof. Cristina Pecchia, from the University of Vienna and a visiting examiner to the Department also attended and presented a paper called ‘And yet he spoke: the Buddha from silence to dialogue’.
Prof. Koshy Tharakan, Dean and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Philosophy and Vedic Studies, hosted the event in which, a total number of 16 papers were presented over the two days, many of which were by Indian doctoral candidates. The Seminar ended with a commitment to engage in further collaborations between both Departments.
