The Head of the Department of Geosciences at the University of Malta, Prof. Sebastiano Damico, was recently featured on RAI SCUOLA's production of NEWTON.
Together with a number of other academics from the Universities of Messina, Salerno and Catania, Prof. Damico spoke about how science applies to and supports cultural goods.
Prof. Damico said cultural sites live two lives; one as a touristic site, the other as their original intended purpose. There are a number of tools, such as seismographs, that might help by measuring the vibrations on the site when it experiences a huge influx of people within a short time.
The filming, which took place last summer, was done at the historic antique Teatro di Taormina and Casalvecchio, and the TV programme was conducted by Davide Coero Borga.
