On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the University of Malta’s Equity Office came up with an initiative to remind people on campus that although love does not carry one simple definition, it is a force that binds us together and fosters connection.
UM’s Equity Officer, Ms Nadia Abdilla, went around campus, asking students what positive term comes to mind when they are asked ‘What is Love?’
Caring for each other, being cared for, sacrifice, happiness, home, friendship, family… these were among the answers given by students.
The replies were added to a list generated in collaboration with the UM Counselling Unit, who shared other definitions of what Love is, such as: compassion, safety, intimacy, consent, kindness, respecting boundaries, freedom, and empowerment.
A short video was produced for UM’s social media, gathering all the answers given.
On 14 February, vouchers offered by a number of sponsors, namely AMAMI, Cakebox, Corinthia Hotel and Radisson Hotel, will be raffled for participation in the video.
Watch the video on UM’s social media channels.
