We are thrilled to share some highlights from our deep dive into the mysterious world of cyberspace.
From an insightful discussion on virtual learning environments that push the bounds of the classroom’s four walls led by Prof. Matthew Montebello to Dr Alexandra Bonnici’s groundbreaking research that facilitates text to speech conversion for visually impaired individuals better than any reader on the market, the event was a true celebration of technological advancement.
Dr Dylan Seychell shed light on the dangers of deepfakes and what their use means for the future of AI, while Dr Ing. Stefania Cristina unveiled the future of eye-tracking technology through the LuminEye project which moves away from using infrared eye tracking towards more affordable eye-controlled systems using a webcam.
Prof. Ing. Michael Saliba and Prabhu Rayudu Naraharisetti inspired us with their vision for robot-inclusive spaces wherein a space is adapted to suit a robot’s skillset to reduce its limitations and help it be more efficient in caring for vulnerable individuals. Dr Vanessa Camilleri and Mr François Zammit rounded off the evening with a thought-provoking conversation about the possibility of digital immortality, tying together all the preceding talks and leaving us all with plenty of food for thought.
