The 35th European Cetacean Society Conference took place in Catania between 10 and 12 April 2024, and it was titled ‘Marine mammals and human activities: how to reach a sustainable development of coastal areas?’.
Marine experts from all over Europe, and beyond, met and discussed their rigorous studies on conservation, bioacoustics and other topics in the world of cetaceans.
Prof. Adriana Vella, Professor at the University of Malta’s Department of Biology within the Faculty of Science, had the role of revising scientific papers presented by the team (the Associazione Centro di Studi e Ricerca Ambiente Marino).
Members of CESRAM then presented two works in total, about the measures of conservation of marine mammals in the Calabrian Ionian Sea and the presence of human interactions in the areas of investigation such as ship traffic, fishing gear and marine litter.
