Applied theatre practitioner and academic, Prof. Isabelle Gatt, recently visited Department of Arts Education Western Norway University of Applied Sciences in Bergen to conduct master classes in vocal technique, physical theatre, and storytelling.
Prof. Gatt's collaboration with this university spans over a decade, and her visit follows Professor Adam Cziboly's from the same university to UM the previous week, where he delivered process drama sessions addressing bullying to Master students in Drama Education and Applied Theatre.
In addition to these hands-on workshops, Prof. Gatt delivered a seminar on Arts-Based Research, accompanied by video examples of research conducted at UM, enriching the academic experience for students enrolled in the Theatre in Education (TIE) and Applied Theatre module.
The students who had also attended other workshops and lectures with Prof. Gatt last academic year, immersed themselves in the advance actor skills work offered during these sessions this year. Faculty members from the Arts department also actively participated, providing valuable insights that mutually enhanced practice.
Prof. Isabelle Gatt's visit not only helps strengthen the bond between Western Norway University Department of Arts and herself but also reaffirms the university's commitment to providing a more international perspective on theatre education.
The visit was made possible by the Erasmus + programme.
