UM academic from the delivered the opening keynote lecture at an international conference held at St Paul鈥檚 University, Ottawa, Canada, from 13-17 May 2024.
The conference focused on addressing spiritual, psychological, and ideological abuse. It was organised by the Centre for Safeguarding of Minors and Vulnerable Persons within the Faculty of Canon Law at St Paul鈥檚 University and attracted approximately 80 participants attending both in person and virtually.
Rev. Dr Schembri鈥檚 lecture was titled Shades of Justice: The Power and Pitfalls of Canonical Remedies in Addressing Abuse. Beyond the keynote, he led a workshop discussing the impact of abuse on communities and participated in an interdisciplinary panel discussion.
