A University of Malta academic, (Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics), and his PhD student Mr Kevin Abela, had the opportunity to present their work at the mathematical conference Lattice Structures in Analysis and Applications, organised by the Instituto de Ciencias Mathematicás (ICMAT) in Madrid.
Prof. Chetcuti was an invited speaker, one amongst others coming from some of the most prominent academic institutions, such as the Universities of Cambridge, Sorbonne, Bordeaux, Vienna, Leiden, Madrid, Wuppertal, Queen’s Belfast, California Berkeley, Illinois, Alberta, Saint Louis, and Maryland, and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
The purpose of this conference was to bring researchers interested in different aspects of lattice and ordered structures, with particular emphasis on functional analysis and its applications. The conference covered several topics including vector and Banach lattices, Banach spaces, operator theory and phase retrieval.
Prof. Chetcuti’s invited talk was entitled ‘Order topologies and applications’. Mr Abela presented his joint work with Prof. Chetcuti in his talk ‘Unbounded order convergence on infinitely distributive lattices’.
