The Internationalisation Working Group at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) organised a workshop at the International Network of Healthcare Workforce Education (INHWE) conference held in Barcelona between 26 and 27 June 2024.
The ECHOES project, funded by ERASMUS+, aims to create an online platform that fosters the ExCHange Of ExpertiSe in health across Europe and worldwide. This platform will allow professionals who are researching, practising or teaching in any area of healthcare and wellbeing, to register their areas of expertise and participate in educational and research projects. The ECHOES platform is set to launch in mid-2025.
Dr Rachael Agius, Dr Marjorie Bonello and Dr Guilherme Couto from the FHS, in collaboration with Dr Nicola Pagnucci from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), conducted a workshop to explore healthcare experts' perceptions of what constitutes "expertise in healthcare." They also gathered insights on gaps in expertise within their professions in their countries and collected suggestions on features they would like to see in the ECHOES platform upon its launch.
The workshop's success and the overall progress of the project culminated in the ECHOES team receiving the esteemed Lesley Diack Award for Outstanding Research.
