The University is set to launch a Women's archive to collect, preserve, and make accessible materials that document women's contributions across the Maltese Islands.
In a meeting held on 1 August 2024 to kickstart discussions on the setting up and practical implementation processes required for such a project, Prof. Carmen Sammut, Pro-Rector for Student and Staff Affairs and Outreach together with the Equity Coordinator, Ms Nadia Abdilla met with Dr Joan Abela at the Notarial Archives site located in Valletta.
Dr Joan Abela, who leads the Notarial Archives Foundation, provided excellent advice and encouragement for setting up a Women's Archive and will be collaborating with the University of Malta on this project.
Professor Carmen Sammut, Dr Joan Abela and Ms Nadia Abdilla are part of the working group responsible for the setting up of this archive.
Additional working group members include: Prof. William Zammit, Prof. JosAnn Cutajar and Ms Simone Azzopardi.
