The Department of Human Communication Sciences & Disorders at the Faculty of Health Sciences was delighted to host the Speech-Language Pathology – International Network Summer School between 18 and 25 August 2024! The Department collaborated with international colleagues from the network to prepare an intensive week of learning, networking and social activities.

The Speech-Language Pathology International Network (SLP-IN) is a consortium of 19 Speech Language Pathology (SLP) departments from across the world, committed to advance the profession of SLP by networking through education, research and professional practice. The summer school is an annual event held in a different country each year. The Malta Team successfully hosted this event for the third time during 2024. It was previously held in Malta also in 2014 and in 2004.

This year’s event could not have been possible without the numerous sponsors, including APS bank, Zaminox, Edusell, Hand in Hand, Carroten and the International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders (IALP).

The participants this year included around 80 students and 30 academic members of staff from countries around the world, including Belgium, Sweden, The Netherlands, Taiwan, The Philippines, Hong Kong and many more. The team is looking forward to the next SLP-IN summer school to be hosted by the University of Valladolid, Spain, in 2025.
