During this visit, Professor Khaldi met with the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Colin Calleja, Dr James Calleja, and Dr Michelle Attard Tonna. His meeting with Prof. Calleja focused on pre-service teacher education provisions in Malta, with particular emphasis on the Faculty’s Master in Teaching and Learning (MTL) programme. The meeting with Dr James Calleja focused on the use of Lesson Study as a tool to improve the continuous professional development of teachers. Professor Khaldi’s meeting with Dr Michelle Attard Tonna explored the Field Placement component of the MTL programme, especially about the mentoring of student teachers in schools by trained teacher mentors. During all three meetings, Professor Khaldi also explored research collaborations between the faculties of education at the University of Malta and Birzeit University.
