On Monday 17 February the , within the , marked its 10th anniversary with an event celebrating a decade of education and research in disability studies. The event featured speeches from the Rector of the University of Malta , the Dean of the , , the Head of the Department of Disability Studies, Dr Amy Camilleri Zahra, who steered the department when it was officially set up and who was the Department鈥檚 first administrator.
The event also featured a keynote speech from Prof. Anghrad Beckett from the Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Leeds, a panel discussion amongst past and current students led by , and concluding remarks by . During the event, a video highlighting the set up and the 10-year journey of the Department was also launched. The event was attended by academics, students, and stakeholders. This important milestone continues to reinforce the Department鈥檚 commitment to fostering accessibility, inclusion, and advocacy through continued education and research in the disability sector.
