The Department of Health Systems Management and Leadership, in collaboration with CareMalta, successfully organised a symposium on Person Safety & Clinical Risk Management in Health and Social Care. The symposium was jointly coordinated by the Head of Department, Prof. Sandra C. Buttigieg and Mr Noel Borg, COO of CareMalta Group. This event followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two entities in September 2024, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing safety and risk management within health and social care sectors.

- Prof. Jose Joanquin Mira Solves, a distinguished psychologist and academic affiliated with Miguel Hern谩ndez University (UMH) in Elche, Spain where he serves as Professor and is actively involved in clinical activities at the Alicante-Sant Joan Health District. He leads the ATENEA Research Group, focusing on healthcare quality and patient safety. Prof Mira Solves serves as Chair of the European Researchers' Network Working on Second Victims (ERNST), COST Action 19113.
- Prof. Reinhard Strametz, a distinguished anaesthesiologist and economist specialising in patient safety, quality management, clinical risk management, and emergency medicine. He currently holds the Professorship for Medicine for Economists, with a focus on Patient Safety, at Wiesbaden Business School, part of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. Prof Strametz serves as the Vice-Chair of the European Researchers' Network Working on Second Victims (ERNST), COST Action 19113.
To provide an interactive learning experience, the symposium included two parallel sessions featuring specialised workshops led by the guest speakers. These sessions allowed participants to delve deeper into practical applications of risk management strategies, equipping healthcare professionals with essential tools to enhance patient safety within their respective organisations.
