As part of the World Creativity and Innovation Week Programme of Events organised by The Edward de Bono Institute for Creative Thinking and Innovation at the University of Malta, a unique workshop entitled Science Students for Water – Creativity in a Changing Climate was held on 3 April at the Ħandaq Middle School, St Ignatius College.
The session was jointly delivered by Prof. Margaret Mangion, Dr Censu Caruana, and Dr Julian Mamo. The activity brought together teams of science students who were each assigned a practical water conservation measure to apply at both school and home.
To kick off the session, the students were introduced to a creative thinking method designed to spark fresh perspectives and innovative solutions. With the support of their teachers and the academics from the University of Malta, the teams then explored new ways to develop and refine their assigned water-saving ideas, devising engaging ways to share their proposals with their peers. By the end of the session, each group presented a practical plan that can help reduce daily water consumption.
Focusing on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Quality Education (SDG4) and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG11), this workshop was jointly organised by The Edward de Bono Institute for Creative Thinking and Innovation, The Institute of Earth Systems, and the Centre for Environmental Education & Research.
