Dr Thérèse Bajada has published a bilingual book on sustainable mobility entitled The Adventures of John and Mary in the City: A Collection of Stories about Sustainable Mobility. The book was sponsored by the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works and is being distributed to all Year 6 students around Malta and Gozo.
The Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation also supported this initiative. The launch took place on 21 May 2025 at St Thomas More College, St Joachim Primary where both Minister Chris Bonett and Minister Clifton Grima were present and read the stories with the children.
The publication is a collection of three short stories on using the bus, the bicycle and walking. It describes daily activities using sustainable modes of transport. At the end of each story there are questions that involve creative thinking as recommended by Prof. Margaret Mangion from The Edward Debono Institute for Creative Thinking and Innovation.
The Adventures of John and Mary in the City: A Collection of Stories about Sustainable Mobility also includes a glossary of terms for the children to use and learn. It was proofread by the National Literary Agency.
