Between the 21 and the 27 of April, visited the Université de la Manouba within the framework of the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Malta’s and La Manouba’s Faculty of Arts, Letters and Humanities.
The visit was possible thanks to the International Credit Mobility Fund. Amongst other activities during his visit, Prof. Bugeja held discussion sessions with both doctoral and Master's candidates within the Faculty on various aspects of Mediterranean Studies research and participated in the ‘Écrivains Siciliens de Tunisie d’Expression Française' Conference held at the Académie Tunisienne and organised by the Chaire Sicile at La Manouba's Faculty of Arts, Letters and Humanities. Prof. Bugeja also held various meetings with members of the Faculty and other international scholars and writers in view of potential collaborations between the University of Malta’s Mediterranean Institute and La Manouba’s Faculty of Arts, Letters and Humanities, which are in the pipeline.
The Université de la Manouba is a major public university in Tunisia and one of the most important hubs of scholarly and higher-educational activity on the southern Mediterranean littoral. The Mediterranean Institute’s formal collaboration agreement with this major North African university marked an important step in the University’s internationalisation and strengthening of academic relations in the region. The agreement is now in its third year of activity and various collaborations are forthcoming on the basis of this successful momentum on the basis of the existing Memorandum of Understanding.
