A presentation ceremony to recognise and accredit educators, as well as acknowledge schools leading the way in financial and entrepreneurial education, was held at HSBC Hall in Qormi.
The event marked the successful completion of a specialised micro-credential by 19 educators, who were awarded certificates in Financial Capability and Entrepreneurship: A Development Programme for Educators (LAS1100), delivered by the Centre for the Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS).
Offered for the first time during academic year 2024/25, this stand-alone micro-credential is designed to empower educators to integrate practical financial education into their daily teaching. The programme supports cross-curricular integration across a variety of subjects, including mathematics, ICT, ethics, business studies, physical education, and general primary education.
This initiative is the result of a collaborative agreement between the Centre for Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Centre for Excellence in Financial Capability and Entrepreneurship. It reflects a broader national effort to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurial thinking within the school environment.
The certificate presentation ceremony, held on 18 June 2025, was presided over by Professor David Mifsud, Director of CLAS. Also present were officials from the Ministry of Education, representatives from the HSBC Malta Foundation, and members of the Centre for Excellence in Financial Capability and Entrepreneurship.
This milestone highlights the growing importance of equipping educators with the tools and knowledge to foster financial capability among students from an early age.
