Dr Felicity G. Attard, Senior Lecturer in the Department of International Law, was invited to chair an international panel of experts which examined the combating of traditional threats to maritime security in the light of technological developments.
The panel was part of the proceedings at the convened by the NATO Maritime Security Centre of Excellence in Istanbul.
The conference brought together 255 participants from over 22 States.
Among the distinguished participants were leading academics, experts, and practitioners in the field of maritime security.
Within the scope of the conference, the opportunities offered by technology and the associated challenges were thoroughly addressed across a wide range of domains, including autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, cyber resilience, and data-driven maritime situational awareness.
