A group of Maltese student athletes, accompanied by Prof. Andrew Decelis, recently paid a visit to University of Malta Rector, Prof. Alfred J. Vella, and Pro-Rector, Prof. Carmen Sammut, ahead of their upcoming international participation.
The student athletes, made up of current UM students, alumni, and students from other institutions, will represent Malta at the FISU World University Games taking place in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, from 16 to 27 July.
This is the first time in 10 years that Malta will be represented at the games, and it’s the first time that the , is organising it’s participation. It is also the largest contingent in recent memory.
A total of 12 athletes will compete across four sports:

Athletics: 7 athletes

Badminton: 3 athletes

Judo: 1 athlete

Tennis: 1 athlete
The athletes will be supported by a team of three coaches, as well as executive officials, medical personnel, and a media liaison.
Competitions will be held in the Bochum, Mülheim, and Essen regions of Germany.
