2. Conference topics
The University of Malta Junior College shall host its inaugural edition of The Junior College Multi-Disciplinary Conference: Research, Practice and Collaboration, which is set to be held from 18 to 20 September 2017. The chosen theme for this conference is ‘C´Ç²Ô²Ô±ð³¦³Ù¾±´Ç²Ô²õ’ offering scope for constructing and deconstructing the appreciation of inter-disciplinarity and connections/ disconnections that may exist between the following areas of study: the social, natural and human sciences; arts and the humanities; education; business; technology and the environment.
The conference invites scholars to ponder the multi-layered connections of these disciplines vis-Ã -vis research and practice, theoretical issues, communication, the pedagogy of formal/informal teaching, concept formation, mental models and modelling, and the contextualisation of values and ideas. The conference team invites papers related, but not limited to, the following:
- Pedagogical benefits and challenges related to teaching and learning within an inter-disciplinary framework
- Teaching, learning and social networking
- The development of past, present and emerging technologies and devices to enhance ICT
- Issues arising from cryptocurrency, ‘the internet of things’ and other emerging forms of technology
- Comparative literature and its changing traditions
- The connections between fictional narratives and performance, drama, dance, film, music, the visual arts, popular culture and emerging aesthetic media
- Translation and connection(s)
- The theoretical and philosophical issues related to communication and the social sciences.
3. Submission guidelines
Submission of Abstracts and Bio-Note
Those interested in contributing to this edition of The Junior College Multi-disciplinary Conference: Research, Practice and Collaboration are kindly requested to submit a short abstract (400-450 words) and bio-note (150 words) by email to mdconf.jc@um.edu.mt by 30 May 2017. All submissions will be reviewed. Selection for inclusion in the conference programme will be based on quality, originality and relevance, in the judgement of the review process.
Submission of full paper
Those interested in publishing their paper must kindly submit their full paper by 30 August 2017. All submissions must be submitted electronically by sending an email to mdconf.jc@um.edu.mt.
During the conference, papers shall be allotted a strict 20-minute slot. Late submissions shall regrettably not be considered. The list of participants shall be announced on 15 June 2017.
Acceptance
Conference participation: Within one week of 15 June 2017 the team will send an email notification of acceptance or rejection. If accepted, additional conference and registration-specific information will be included.
Paper publication: Within one week of 30 August 2017 the team will send an email notification of acceptance or rejection for publication in the conference proceedings.
Presentations
Presentations are to be on a USB flash drive. Each presentation room will be equipped with a laptop and data projector for Powerpoint presentations. Powerpoint presentations are not to exceed 20 slides for a 20-min presentation. Transparency projectors are not provided.
4. Registration
The registration fee for the full 3 days of the conference is EUR 100. The rate for undergraduate students is EUR 30. Should one wish to register for 1 or 2 days only, the registration fee is EUR 60.

5. Conference programme
Preliminary programme of the conference will be available from 15 June 2017. The detailed programme of the conference will be available from 10 September.
