The graduate student will be trained and will execute a number of tasks related to a collaborative project between the Department of Food Science and Nutrition (Faculty of Health Sciences) and the Centre for Biomedical Cybernetics.
The MSc student will work in some key innovations in the development of is traceability and authenticity control tools of traditional high-value Mediterranean foods such as cheese and honey, using latest analytical and software technologies. The overall objectives will be to (i) development of adulterated cheese and honey models (ii) assessment of model food products using classical analytical or microbial techniques such as HPLC or plate counting and (iii) implementation of hyperspectral image analysis for the identification of adulterated model food products. The activities of this work will be achieved through collaboration with Mediterranean academic institutes and SMEs as part of the MEDIFIT PRIMA project.
