WASP (Write a Scientific Paper) commenced in 2010, and has been held annually in Malta. It has also been held at the Royal College of Paedratrics in London, and at the University of Manana in Bahrain.
The last WASP (Write a Scientific Paper) Course was held online, with international and local faculty having garnered excellent feedback.
To this end, another WASP International will be held online between 5 and 7 July 2021, and all aspects of paper writing are covered, from the proposal, to ethics, to analysis to writing, presentation, submission and peer review.
Instructors include Prof. Victor Grech, consultant paedratrician with a special interest in paedratric cardiology, Prof. Jane Somerville, British emeritus professor of cardiology, Prof. Joseph DeGiovanni, international consultant paedratric cardiologist, Dr Gauden Galea, public health physician currently working as WHO representative in China, Prof. Neville Calleja from the Department of Public Health, and Dr Sarah Cuschieri from the Department of Anatomy.
The course programme, which may be found , includes all the core topics being discussed, such as applying for a grant, data protection, similarities and differences between writing a paper and a thesis, ethics, and excel statistical analysis modules.
