What makes a community? Where do social initiatives start? How do we claim a voice and start improving our environment in all its forms, be it to make it more sustainable, increase accessibility or even digitise activism?

Third Places, open spaces like cafes, public libraries, galleries or maker spaces, create opportunities for sharing, deliberation and belonging. They are the perfect venues for co-production and sharing of knowledge.

SciCultureD’s second intensive course will be held in Bochum, Greece, from 8 -12 May 2023. Apply to our grant opportunities to nurture transformation through Third Places in Germany.

SciCultureD is an Erasmus+ project made by two Higher Education Institutions (University of Malta, Malta; Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Norway), a science communication enterprise (city2sciece, Germany) and a science communication non-governmental organisation (Science View, Greece). It tries to answer questions by bringing individuals of different backgrounds together to come up with their own projects towards a more sustainable future. 

Through the collaboration, SciCultureD will deliver an intensive 5-day-long course in Bochum, Germany between 8 and 12 of May 2023 under the theme “Why does transformation need Third Places and how can they be designed". The participants will be immersed in a transdisciplinary experience, supported by experts in arts, science, entrepreneurship, pedagogy, design thinking and science communication, to be able to debate and probe the theme.
