Between 16 October and 4 December, as part of the international project led by , there will be a practical course of seven two-hour sessions of literary essay writing in Maltese for University students.
This genre of literary writing offers many new possibilities for those who wish to narrate the personal and collective experiences of our time.
The seven sessions will be free of charge and will take place on Wednesday between 12:00 and 14:00 on the University Campus in Tal-Qroqq.
The course is part of the and is therefore recorded in the students' transcript and a certificate is given at the end. Essays that reach the desired level (according to a specially set up board) are published on the official site of Essays Beyond Borders for everyone to read.
In the course we will write on a post. Public. Ideally in Malta. A place that means a lot to us. Too bad we only visited it once. Or we know who passed through there. Or we found ourselves in it unwittingly. And now it has completely changed. Or still exactly the same. But not for us. For us now it has changed. The events that take place in it have changed. We have changed. The corners and shadows have changed. A place that we can look for its history before we found out about it. A place that disturbed us. That changed us. That set us free. A place with which games and struggles, friendships and loves were lost. A place that was ours and has now become the property of the land dealers. Or be conquered again by the countryside.
Our personal, literary essays will tell about Malta which is changing with a speed that maybe only the essay can keep up with.
The sessions, always on Wednesdays between 12:00 and 14:00, will take place on the following dates:
- 16 October
- 23 October
- 30 October
- 6 November
- 13 November
