Managing Student Add/Drop Requests in eSIMS

Target Audience: Administrative members of staff responsible for processing student Add/Drop requests
Session Duration: 1 hour
Delivery Mode: Class-based
This training session is intended to equip administrative SIMS users from Faculties, Institutes, Centres, and Schools with the necessary knowledge to process student Add/Drop requests electronically via the task available on their eSIMS portal.
Effective from September 2025, students will be required to submit any proposed changes to their registered study-units (Add/Drop Requests) electronically through their eSIMS portal. Upon submission, the respective Faculty, Institute, Centre, or School will receive an automated email notification for each new request.
The objective of this session is to provide a practical, step-by-step walkthrough of the process administrators must follow to review, approve, or reject submitted requests, and to update the corresponding data within the SIMS system accordingly.

System Orientation: Navigating the eSIMS interface and finding the Progression task.
Decision Criteria: Reviewing progression decisions (e.g., Progress, Repeat, Withdraw) and their application.
Step-by-Step Workflow: Practical demonstration of inputting, reviewing, and submitting decisions.
Data Integrity: Identifying errors and ensuring all students in a cohort are accounted for.
Access Activation: Finalising the training record to enable live system permissions.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Access the Student Progression task within the eSIMS portal.
Identify relevant student cohorts assigned to their academic entity.
Select accurate progression decisions based on student results and regulations.
Submit final decisions securely to the SIMS database.
Validate that all records have been processed and successfully received.
