Prof. Marvin Formosa, an Associate Professor at the University of Malta’s Department of Gerontology and Dementia Studies within the Faculty for Social Wellbeing, and the Rector’s Delegate on the University of Third Age (U3A), has been awarded fellow status by the Gerontological Society of America.
This is the world’s oldest and largest interdisciplinary organisation devoted to research, education and practice in the field of aging.
Prof. Formosa’s fellow status was unanimously approved by the GSA Board of Directors on 21 May 2021 after review and recommendations by the GSA Membership Committee.
This is not the first recognition of Prof. Formosa’s work, as earlier this year, he was awarded Honoris Causa in Gerontology by Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, for his “outstanding educational activity and personal contribution to the development of social policy and gerontology”.
The University congratulates Prof. Formosa on this accolade bestowed by his professional colleagues.
