The ongoing collaboration between Infrastructure Malta and the Department of Spatial Planning and Infrastructure within the Faculty for the Built Environment at the University of Malta has led to 9 student placements with Infrastructure Malta. These students hail from different levels of study including 3rd year in the BSc in Built Environment Studies and years 1 and 2 in the MEng in Civil Engineering.
Internships provide students at different levels with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the opportunities offered by public entities within the infrastructural domain. They will be assigned to different sections of Infrastructure Malta to help them familiarize themselves with the work of this public agency. Students who have completed their final year MEng in Civil Engineering will also be able to log this experience in the process to establish themselves as warranted periti.
The Department of Spatial Planning and Infrastructure welcomes such student-centred opportunities in order to couple their academic studies with relevant practical work. The Department thanks Infrastructure Malta for this opportunity which enshrines the department’s vision to be as participative and relevant as possible to the world of work. It augured that the current collaboration will continue to bear its fruit and develop further.
