The ’s latest initiative is Kokka Fondi, which sees €80,000 worth of funds that will be distributed to individual students and student organisations.
Kokka Fondi was created in order to empower and support University of Malta students with their personal or group initiatives in five areas, namely Arts, Education, Sustainable Practices, Organisations, and Sports.
The €80,000 is funnelled through five funds;
- The Arts Fund, worth €17,000 - to fund projects that are arts and culture-driven as well as to allow students to experience local productions by reimbursing their ticket to attendance or participation, where applicable;
- The Education Fund, worth €23,000 - to encourage students to keep up to date with current developments in research and give a helping hand to those carrying out their own research;
- The Green Fund, worth €20,000 - to promote alternative modes of transport on and off campus;
- The Organisations’ Fund, worth €10,000 - to encourage student organisations to hold events in aid of charity, social causes and in the interest of student wellbeing;
- The Sports Fund, worth €10,000 - to be awarded on a sponsorship basis, and to cover pitch rental, purchase of kits, etc, or to fund projects that encourage the appreciation of sports.
The Green Fund is funded by the €4.50 green contribution collected from the distribution of student parking permits across campus.
