66 new proofreaders were recently awarded the Certificate of Proofreading in Maltese from the Department of Maltese at the University of Malta, and the official Maltese proofreading warrant from the National Council for the Maltese Language. The new qualified proofreaders include educators, journalists, translators, communication officers of different governmental entities, local council clerks, and employees from the private sector. In all 691 proofreaders have successfully completed this university course (MQF 5) since it started in 2006.
This one-year course is organised by the Department of Maltese, within the Faculty of Arts, with the participation of the Maltese Language Council, and starts in February. All lessons are carried out online twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, and the exams are held in class.
