History has been written for the UM Wolves RFC Men’s Team, as they recently won their first ever league match when they faced Stompers and obtained a final score of 26 to 19.
They are one of five teams participating in the Malta Rugby Football Union’s CISK League, and this was their first competitive win since entering the competition.
The game started brightly with a try from Hamish Boult which was converted by Virain Hariramani, while another try Simon Borg placed the boys at an advantage of 12-7 by half time.
Stompers equalled the score, but Hariramani scored and converted his own try to take a 19-12 lead. Stompers however levelled again a few minutes later to leave the game finely poised at 19-19.
It was however French exchange student Sami Oudjedaoui, who is studying at the University of Malta as part of an Erasmus+ programme, who scored what would be the winning try with five minutes left on the clock. Hariramani converted for a score of 26-19, which would remain such until the sound of the full-time whistle.
