(European Molecular Biology Laboratory) is Europe's leading laboratory that is dedicated to molecular biology research and is supported by 27 member states, including Malta. Prof. Joseph Borg and Dr Melissa Formosa are the representatives on behalf of the UM, and a MoU for research activities has recently been set up between the UM and EMBL.
. This programme, made possible by the support of the member states for EMBL鈥檚 mission to train future scientific leaders, will strive to expand the connections that EMBL has with academia and industry in our member states and to create new networks across borders and disciplines.
Fellows will work on interdisciplinary research projects falling under the umbrella of EMBL鈥檚 current Programme Molecules to Ecosystems, and involving an EMBL host and a partner. The partner can come from EMBL or from an academic institute, clinic, or company in an EMBL member state. Fellows with a member state partner may spend up to one year in the partner lab, with financial support for travel and accommodation included in the fellowship that EMBL will provide. EIPOD-LinC will also offer its fellows transferable skills training and career development support, as well as fully funded 3-year contracts with healthcare and social security. The programme is designed to support the increasing diversity of career paths in Europe鈥檚 research landscape.
