The Pan-European Seal Young Professionals Programme, commencing this September, offers high-achieving university graduates from various fields of study the possibility to gain valuable on-the-job experience in a multicultural environment either at the European Patent Office (EPO) or the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
The European Patent Office is the organ of the intergovernmental European Patent Organisation which carries out the task of granting European patents, including drawing up European search reports and examination of European patent applications.
The European Union Intellectual Property Office is the European Union Agency responsible for registering European Union trademarks and European Union designs in the EU and for running the EU Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights.
The Programme is open to graduates who have obtained a full undergraduate, master's, or doctorate degree, or an equivalent qualification as from October 2023 or those who are in their final year of study. The EPO also extends eligibility to alumni who graduated within the last two years.
Positions are available in multiple fields of interest, including Law, IT, Business, Engineering, Architecture, Media and Communications, and Education, among others. Please note that this list is not exhaustive.
Interested applicants are requested to submit their CV and a motivation letter by email to the Knowledge Transfer Office by Wednesday 14 February 2024 (close of business).
Eligible candidates will then be called in for a meeting with the University of Malta Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO), after which a list of recommended applicants will be submitted to the EPO and EUIPO by the KTO. Candidates who have been nominated will be notified and may proceed to submit their application directly to the intended institution, along with any additional requirements as instructed. Applicants may only submit an application to one of the institutions and only those applicants who have been nominated by the UM will be reviewed by the respective institution.
